NDDC Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme 2025 – Apply Now

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is now accepting applications for its Foreign Postgraduate Scholarship Programme. This initiative is designed to develop human resources in the Niger Delta region by providing young professionals with specialized training. The programme aims to prepare them for active participation in the Federal Government’s local content policy and equip them with globally competitive skills in various professional fields.

Eligible candidates must have a relevant bachelor’s degree in one of the following disciplines:

  1. Agricultural Science
  2. Engineering
  3. Environmental Science
  4. Geosciences
  5. Information Technology
  6. Medical Sciences
  7. Law
  8. Architecture

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a native of the Niger Delta region.
  • Hold a First Class, Second Class Upper, or Lower Division Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Be 40 years old or younger at the time of application.

Application Process

Qualified candidates should submit their applications online via the NDDC website: www.nddc.gov.ng. As part of the application, candidates must upload the following required documents:

  1. A recent passport-sized photograph.
  2. Local Government Identification Letter.
  3. Admission letter for a postgraduate programme at a recognized foreign university.
  4. Degree certificates from a recognized university.
  5. NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate.

Upon submission, a registration number will be automatically assigned. Applicants should print and retain a copy of the acknowledgment slip for future reference.

Selection Procedure

The selection process will be carried out in several phases:

  1. Online Application – Interested candidates must complete and submit the application form through the NDDC website.
  2. Initial Screening – Shortlisting will be based on:
    • WASSCE/NECO results.
    • Classification of undergraduate degree (First Class, Second Class Upper, or Lower Division).
    • Local Government Identification.
  3. Computer-Based Test – Shortlisted candidates will sit for a test at a designated center in Rivers State, administered by an independent consultant.
  4. Minimum Test Score – Candidates must score at least 70% in the CBT to be considered for the next phase.
  5. Further Shortlisting – Successful candidates from the test will move on to the next selection round.
  6. Final Verification – The last step involves verification through the Local Government Area (LGA) and Community Development Committee (CDC).

Scholarship Coverage

The scholarship amount will be determined based on the prevailing Naira exchange rate. It will cover tuition, accommodation, and other essential study-related expenses for recipients.

Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted on or before April 21, 2025. This deadline falls exactly four weeks after the initial publication of this advert on March 24, 2025. Late applications will not be entertained.

Important Information

  • The NDDC will not communicate with applicants who are not shortlisted for the CBT or invited for interviews.
  • Preference will be given to candidates from oil-producing host communities and local government areas who meet the minimum requirements.
  • There will be a fair distribution of scholarship opportunities across all eligible states in the Niger Delta region.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to defer their scholarship, change institutions, or switch courses after being selected.
  • The NDDC has full discretion over the selection process, and its decision will be final.
