The Niger State Scholarship for the 2024/2025 academic session is currently open. The Niger State Scholarship Board (NSSB), under the Ministry for Higher Education, has officially commenced scholarship applications for eligible students. This scholarship is aimed at supporting students in financing their education.
The scholarship is available to all indigene students of Niger State. The Board offers scholarships to qualified students in universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Niger State Scholarship 2024/2025 Academic Session
The scholarship is designed for Niger indigene students, whether they are awaiting admission, currently enrolled, or have completed their degree in tertiary institutions.
The Niger State Scholarship Board generally offers:
- Need-based scholarships
- Merit-based scholarships
- Scholarships for students with physical disabilities enrolled in public tertiary institutions.
Students can apply for either local or foreign scholarship programmes.
Niger State Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the Niger State Scholarship 2024/2025, applicants must fulfil the following requirements:
- Applicants must be indigenes of Niger State with a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Indigent students studying both within and outside Niger State are eligible.
- Students must be registered full-time in government-approved public tertiary institutions.
- Fresh students must have at least 5 credits in Mathematics, English, and three other relevant subjects in WAEC or NECO.
- Undergraduate students must provide a valid admission letter.
- Shortlisted foreign scholarship applicants must undergo a drug test and submit a medical certificate from a government hospital.
- Postgraduate applicants for the foreign scholarship must have a minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or 3.6 on a 4.0 scale for a master’s degree.
- PhD applicants must have a Master’s degree with merit.
- For need-based scholarships, applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 5.0 scale or 1.6 on a 4.0 scale.
- For merit-based scholarships, a minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or 3.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- Postgraduate applicants for local scholarships must have a CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
How to Apply for Niger State Scholarship 2024
Interested applicants should visit the NSSB registration portal at https://nssb.org.ng and click on Apply to register. Applicants are required to complete the application form with their personal and academic information and print the online acknowledgment slip.
Students can choose from local or foreign scholarships. Each category may be need-based, merit-based, or disability-based.
The completed application form must be submitted before the deadline, as specified in the advertisement on the Board portal. After the registration closes, the Board will conduct physical verification and shortlist successful candidates for the 2024 session.
Niger State Scholarship Funds Disbursement 2024
The Niger State Scholarship Board will thoroughly review all the submitted information before approving and disbursing the scholarship funds.
The National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS) has also announced the commencement of scholarship payments for students verified during the recent 2024 exercise. Students awaiting payment are advised to remain patient as all verified students will be paid. NANISS has dispatched officials to institutions outside Niger State to ensure that qualified students receive their scholarships.
