The Kano State Scholarship for the 2024/2025 academic session is now open. The Kano State Scholarship Board (KSSB), under the Ministry for Higher Education, has begun accepting applications for the 2024/2025 session. This scholarship is aimed at supporting indigene students of Kano in funding their education. It is available to students attending universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Kano State Scholarship
This scholarship is available for Kano indigenes who are yet to receive their admission letter, are currently enrolled, or have completed their degree in tertiary institutions.
The KSSB offers various types of scholarships, including:
- Need-based scholarships
- Merit-based scholarships
- Scholarships for students with physical disabilities
Students can also apply for Foreign scholarships, Regular internal scholarships, Private universities scholarships, and Nigerian Law Schools scholarship programmes.
Kano State Scholarship Requirements 2024/2025
- Must be an indigene of Kano State.
- Applicants must have a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
- Students studying within or outside Kano State are eligible to apply.
- Must be enrolled as full-time students in a government-approved public tertiary institution.
- Fresh students must have at least 5 credits in Mathematics and English in WASSCE or NECO.
- Undergraduate students must provide a valid admission letter.
- Shortlisted foreign scholarship applicants must undergo a drug test and provide a full medical certificate from a government hospital.
- Employed applicants must provide a reference letter from their employer, while unemployed applicants must provide a reference letter from their last institution.
- Postgraduate applicants for the foreign scholarship must have a minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or 3.6 on a 4.0 scale for a master’s degree.
- PhD applicants must have a Master’s degree with merit.
- For need-based scholarships, applicants must have a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 5.0 scale or 1.6 on a 4.0 scale.
- For merit-based scholarships, a minimum CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or 3.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- Postgraduate applicants for the local scholarship must have a CGPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or 3.2 on a 4.0 scale.
- Students with physical disabilities are also eligible to apply.
How to Apply for Kano State Scholarship 2024/2025
Interested applicants should visit the official KSSB registration portal at https://kssbonline.org and click on Apply Now to start the application process. Applicants must complete the application form with their personal and academic details and print the online acknowledgment slip.
Applicants can choose from local or foreign scholarships, which may be need-based, merit-based, or disability-based.
The completed application form must be submitted before the deadline stated in the advertisement on the KSSB portal. After the registration closes, the Board will conduct a physical verification and shortlist successful candidates.
KSSB Disbursement of Scholarship Funds 2024
The Kano State Scholarship Board will review all the information provided by applicants and ensure that students are still enrolled in their respective institutions. Once verified and approved, the scholarship funds will be released to tertiary institutions in Nigeria or abroad to cover the students’ tuition fees.
Successful candidates will receive their funds for the 2024/2025 academic session, depending on their scholarship category and programme.
