Is AP Government Giving Free Laptops for Students?
AP government’s plans include buying more than 200 laptops at Rs.30,000 each from APTS for visually impaired students in professional courses. We’re also considering providing laptops to students with hearing, speech, and physical disabilities. This will be a once in a lifetime gift.
Why is it Important?
Today, laptops and computers are essential tools for education. However, many students can’t afford them due to financial constraints. This program is the government’s solution to this problem. By offering free laptops, they hope to level the playing field and ensure every student has access to digital resources.
Who Can Apply?
The program is specially designed for visually, hearing, speech, and mobility impaired students enrolled in professional courses. However, any student facing financial hardship can apply.
Eligibility Criteria for Free Laptop for Students in Andhra Pradesh
- The laptops will be given to students whose parents or guardians earn a monthly income of less than Rs.15,000. For families earning between Rs.15,000 and Rs.20,000 per month, we will cover half the cost. For those earning more than Rs.20,000 per month, the full cost will be collected. This is based on the Government of India’s Adip Scheme guidelines.
- This will apply to students according to GO.Ms 395 dated December 3, 2009, by the Department of WCDA & SC. Only those studying PG and Professional Courses are eligible, and they must provide proof from their school or college.
- Officials from the Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled & Senior Citizens and District Managers must keep a record of all the students who receive a laptop to prevent false claims.
- Students must submit proof of their education, parents’ income certificate, Saderam Certificate, Aadhar Card, and phone number.
- The laptops will be given out through the Assistant Directors of the Department for the Welfare of Differently Abled & Senior Citizens and District Managers of A.P. Differently Abled & Senior Citizens Assistance Corporation.
- All officials must keep a record of applications received each year. Only the eligible students who need laptops should be sent to the Head Office.
- If any false information is found later, the student will face legal action and must return the laptop or its cost.
Please note, each individual is eligible for this benefit only once in their lifetime.
Free Laptop for Students in Andhra Pradesh Specification
This program is for students studying undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) business courses that cost around Rs 60,000.
The IT Department provides an opportunity for 250 students with visual impairments to buy laptops at low costs from the Andhra Pradesh Government.
The scheme is also open to students with hearing and speech impairments, as well as those who are orthopedically challenged. Each student can receive a laptop once in their life under this scheme.

Steps to Apply for the AP Free Laptop Scheme
- Confirm you meet the eligibility conditions mentioned above for a free laptop for students in Andhra Pradesh.
- Visit the AP Govt official website at apdascac.ap.gov.in.
- Click the “Online Application” tab in the middle of the website.
- Select “Click Here to Apply for Differently Abled Schemes”. You’ll be sent to a new webpage.
- Look for ‘Application for Sanction of Laptops’ and click on ‘Apply Online’.
- If you’re not registered, click ‘No’ and a registration form will appear.
- Fill out the registration form with your Name, Aadhar card number, and Mobile number, then create a Password. Check your data then click ‘Submit’.
- You’ll receive your ID and Password on your registered mobile number.
- Use these details to log in to the online application form.
- Fill out the form carefully and upload scanned copies of the required documents.

- Visit the website for the Andhra Pradesh Assistance Corporation at apdascac.ap.gov.in.
- On the main page, find the “Schemes & Forms” section.
- Click on ‘View All Option’. You’ll see a new page.
- Look for the “Sanction of Laptops” option and click on the ‘Read More’ option.
- Now, download and print out the application form.
- Fill in the form with your details and attach the necessary documents.
- Submit the form and the documents to the appropriate department.

- After you’ve applied, the officials from the Andhra Pradesh Higher Education Department will check your application and documents.
