The AKISAN scholarship programme for the 2024 academic session is now open for applications. This scholarship is available to students from Akwa Ibom who are studying in either Nigeria or the United States.
AKISAN Scholarship
The scholarship provides financial support to Akwa Ibomites enrolled in higher education institutions in the United States, including universities, colleges, and community colleges. Each selected applicant will receive a one-time award of $500. Ten successful applicants will be chosen from the US.
Also, the AKISAN USA programme offers scholarships to Akwa Ibomites studying in Nigeria. The award will be granted to two qualified students from each of the 31 Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State, totalling 62 students.
AKISAN Scholarship Requirements 2024
To be eligible for the AKISAN Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be an Akwa Ibomite currently studying in higher education institutions in the USA or Nigeria.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required for students studying in the USA.
- Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to apply again.
- For students in Nigeria, the GPA requirements are:
- 3.5 or higher for a N100,000 award.
- 3.0-3.49 for a N75,000 award.
- 2.5-2.99 for a N50,000 award.
- Applications must include a certificate of origin and a transcript from the most recent academic year.
- WAEC results are needed for first-year undergraduate students in Nigeria.
How to Apply for AKISAN Scholarship 2024
Interested applicants should complete the online application form available on the AKISAN website at https://www.akisan.org. The application must be submitted with the required school transcript for undergraduate students or high school results for first-year students.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 2024, as mentioned in the AKISAN scholarship notification. Students are encouraged to submit their applications before the deadline to be considered for this opportunity.
