The Abia State Scholarship 2024/2025 is now open for applications. This scholarship, approved by the Abia State Scholarship Board (ASSB), aims to support eligible students in covering their educational costs. It is available to all indigenes of Abia State. The ASSB offers scholarships to students enrolled in Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, and other tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Abia State Scholarship Board 2024/2025
This scholarship is managed by the Ministry of Education and is awarded for a full academic session. It is open to full-time students studying in Federal, State, and Private tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Depending on the type of scholarship awarded, recipients will have the opportunity to work with the State Government for five years after completing their programmes. During this period, they may be involved in training government staff in specialised fields like Information Technology, Engineering, and Renewable Energy.
Currently, some Abians are studying at foreign universities on scholarships sponsored by the State Government.
The Abia State Scholarship Board also provides scholarships for students with physical disabilities enrolled in public tertiary institutions, provided they are indigenes of Abia State.
Abia State Student Scholarship Requirements
To be eligible for the Abia State Scholarship 2024/2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be an indigene of Abia State.
- Must possess a valid NIN (National Identification Number).
- Indigent students studying within and outside Abia State are eligible to apply.
- Students with physical disabilities must provide proof of disability.
- Must be registered as full-time students in government-approved public tertiary institutions.
- Must have a CGPA of 4.0 or above in the previous academic year’s exams.
- Must have an account with a CBN-approved commercial bank.
How to Apply for Abia State Scholarship 2024/2025
Interested candidates should visit the official Abia State student scholarship registration portal at https://abiastate.gov.ng and click on the Apply Now button. Applicants must accurately fill out the application form and print the online acknowledgment form.
The completed application form must be submitted within the deadline specified on the advertisement on the official ASSB portal. After the registration period ends, physical verification will be carried out in the applicants’ respective institutions.

School ID card
Letter of identification
Certified transcript (by the school Registrar)
Certified copies of credentials

Scholarship Funds Disbursement
The Abia State Scholarship Board will review all submitted information and verify that students are still enrolled in their institutions before approving and releasing the scholarship funds. Once approved, the funds will be directly paid to the students’ bank accounts. The Board encourages students receiving the scholarship to remain dedicated to their studies and continue to perform well academically.
